Classes are held partly at the Chestnut School Center and Gardens near Asheville, NC where Juliet Blankespoor and her partner, Tom, organically grow vegetables, fruit, native plants, and more than 75 species of medicinal herbs. The Chestnut School Center and Gardens is located in a pastoral wooded setting with a rich diversity of native and exotic plant species. The remainder of our class time is spent exploring the beauty and extreme botanical diversity of the southern Appalachians as we visit varied ecosystems on our numerous day and overnight field trips.

This program offers the student a thorough understanding of traditional and modern medical herbalism. The in-depth field study of botany, ecology, ethical wildcrafting, medicine making, and wild foods promotes the practice of Green herbalism;a plant- centered approach to healing.

Journeying through the cycles and rhythms of the Earth's changing seasons, we celebrate our connection to the land and the plants who give us life. This course fosters life-long relationships with the plants that nourish, heal, house, and provide for us in so many ways. We offer this course in gratitude for their teachings and blessings.
